INSCYD for human performance labs

Maximize the capabilities of your lab

Stop piecing together data from multiple tests. Instead, use a single test protocol to generate more, higher-quality data with less effort than today.

Generate a cohesive picture of an athlete’s physiology including VO₂max, VLamax (glycolytic capacity), economy, substrate utilization, thresholds and training zones from a single test protocol lasting less than 30min. Process the data from all your equipment in no time to automatically create reports at the click of a button.

More Data = More TestsMore Data = One Test

Until now, adding more data for a more complete assessment meant spending more time in the lab. A true VO₂max ramp test required a separate test. Measuring VLamax required an additional sprint test. The cost of data generation scaled 1:1 with the quantity and quality of the results. Until now.

Now you can get all the data from a single test lasting 30 minutes or less: a valid VO₂max and VLamax, as well as all submaximal values, including thresholds, fat and carbohydrate utilization, and even running economy.

A complete picture of the athlete’s physiology

One cohesive picture of an athlete’s physiology

All physiological systems are interconnected. We know this, but traditional testing doesn’t reflect it. Now you can see one cohesive picture of an athlete’s physiology. Want to know how better running economy shifts the lactate profile? No problem. How does a higher VO₂max affect fat oxidation? Now it’s visible.

Same shift. Four different causes.

A proven metric, but an outdated concept

Traditional lactate profile testing was developed decades ago to identify thresholds and create training zones. Today, athletes can determine their thresholds and standard training zones with sufficient accuracy using DIY solutions such as FTP testing. At the same time, the science of lactate has advanced substantially, identifying lactate as a central molecule in metabolism. When used correctly, lactate testing unlocks a whole new world of performance assessment.

A shift in the lactate curve does not indicate improved performance

Lactate concentration is influenced not only by speed or power but also by lactate production, lactate clearance, body composition, and economy. This means that a shift of the lactate curve to the left or right cannot be clearly attributed to a single cause, such as increased aerobic or endurance capacity. There may be several underlying reasons, and the effects of different influencing factors can cancel each other out.

Give clients a reason to come back

Want to find out whether raising VO₂max, lowering VLamax, or reducing body fat would be most beneficial for achieving the next PR? INSCYD does this for you and your customer. Based on real physiological test data and athlete goals, it projects how specific physiological improvements will affect performance. This strengthens athlete motivation and creates a compelling reason to return for retesting, turning physiological testing into a customer-retention system.

Customized reporting that scales

Generate fully automated, branded, and customizable reports within seconds. Using the same lactate profile test you already run, you can create different report levels and service tiers without any additional testing time or cost. This enables higher-value testing tiers without added costs, increasing your profit margin.

Revenue scales, time and effort don’t

Adding metrics like running economy and VLamax to your test results enables you to charge more for your services.

You can offer different service tiers, from a basic test offering with limited data insights to a complete 360° picture of the athlete’s physiology. Because all tiers are based on the same short test, you can upsell clients to a higher tier during the post-testing consultation. More revenue, with the same labor time, hardware, and consumables.

01 · Higher revenue per test

The same lactate step test you run today, delivered as a full metabolic profile. Same test time, a report worth more.

€

What a conventional lactate step test bills at today, before the profile.

€

Recommended: €250, the price labs charge for a full metabolic profile. That is €130 more per test, on tests you already perform.

02 · Increased repeat testing

A profile gives every athlete a measurable reason to come back. Retesting becomes part of the service, not a favour you ask for.

Recommended: about one retest per athlete a year. Athletes come back for a second or third profile.

€

Recommended: the same as the full profile. A retest is the same depth of report.

03 · Upsell to full profile and follow-up

Clients who arrive for a basic test, see what they are missing, and upgrade. A share of them also want the training that follows.

People who book a single test, with no coaching relationship yet.

Recommended: 50%. Once they see what a basic test leaves out, half upgrade, at €130 more each.

Proven gold-standard accuracy

All metrics provided by INSCYD are generated based on the knowledge of peer-reviewed literature. No statistical models, no black-box AI. INSCYD is known as the gold standard for capturing VLamax, even without a sprint test, and independent scientific validation has repeatedly demonstrated its gold-standard accuracy. Its lactate-based VO₂max assessment has been shown to be indistinguishable from spirometry-derived VO₂max in validated protocols.
