Smart performance testing

Any lab, field or remote test.
Always a complete metabolic profile

Your test setup determines the results you get?
Not anymore!
INSCYD turns any test – lab, field and even remote – into a complete metabolic profile: VO₂max, VLamax, thresholds, fat and carbohydrate combustion rates, aerobic and anaerobic energy contribution, physiology based training zones… and more

Trusted by the teams and federations behind the best in sport

From national federations and Olympic programmes to WorldTour teams and professional clubs worldwide.

Five ways to test. One complete profile.

Whether you prefer a lab test with spirometry, a field test with lactate samples, or a remote test based on power or GPS only, INSCYD returns the same complete assessment. You can even combine them: add an all out effort the athlete did into your lab test data. Skip taking lactate samples in the field lactate test… you design the test as it suits you best.

Remote testing:
Low Profile Tests meets High End Results

The athlete performs four intervals by themselves then sends you the file. All they need is a power meter in cycling or a speed measurement in running. This could be a GPS watch or just a stopwatch for testing on the track! You don’t have to be with your athlete during the test – basically saving you time!

Field testing, with lactate only

Test where your athlete actually competes: on the road, on the track, on the pitch, in the pool or lake. A lactate meter and a way to measure power or speed is all it takes. Even without a VO₂ analyzer you get lab level VO₂max, FatMax and all other metrics. And for VLamax – no extra sprint test is needed.

Field testing, with lactate and VO₂

Forget about outdoors tests not being reproducible. Forget about field tests not offering all relevant data. Carry out one test, usually in less than 30 min, and get all relevant performance metrics. By adding mobile VO₂ analyzers you can now get economy in real world conditions and make yourself independent of snow, wind, temperature, current – the test is always accurate and the results are comparable to each other.

Lab testing, with lactate only

Keep using the very incremental lactate profile test you already do, on the ergometer or treadmill you already own. No VO₂ analyzer. No mask. No additional sprint test. No change in protocol. One lactate profile test returns VO₂max, VLamax, thresholds, fat and carbohydrate combustion and much more.

Lab testing, with lactate and VO₂

Keep your lab protocol exactly as it is, with the metabolic cart running alongside the lactate samples. INSCYD reads both data sets from the same session. A metabolic cart provides additional metrics such as running economy and can save time by using a shorter test protocol.

Adapt the protocol to your needs, not the other way around.

For a full performance assessment you can choose different combinations of efforts and protocols as you need it. For lactate testing it takes a few submaximal and at least one all out effort. That is it, no more restrictions. Want longer efforts? Efforts of different durations? Only all out efforts? Add Sprints? Spread over different training sessions or days? No problem, you design the protocols to your need.

Unsure what is best for you? We have got you covered: we have pre-set protocols and a dedicated customer support team to design protocols for your needs.

Your data is reproducible, even if the test protocol isn’t.

Conventional lactate testing leaves you alone with one major problem: Test results from tests which are done using different protocols - step duration and increment - will result in different lactate curves and are therefore not comparable data.

INSCYD solves this problem: all tests you do will be directly comparable. No matter what the protocol was, all results can be compared to each other.

Switch the protocol. The raw curve moves. The INSCYD profile does not.

Wind, snow, temperature, current. INSCYD got you covered.

You test in sports such as XC skiing, canoeing, skating, rowing, or similar sports in which the conditions seem to render the possibility to get absolute numbers impossible?

No problem when you test with INSCYD.

Independent of the conditions you test in, and of how these might affect the speed of the athlete, your results stay accurate and comparable from one test to the next.

WindCurrentTemperatureSnowAltitude

With INSCYD your test results become totally independent of the conditions. Test today in cold temperature and windy conditions, and in warm and mild conditions later? You will be able to compare the results 1:1, no caveat, no limitations.

Test the whole squad in one session.

Testing an entire team does not have to take an entire week. Use a series of all out efforts without lactate sampling to have all athletes do all efforts together. Or use lactate testing in the field to test all athletes in one go – on field, in the water or on the track. All coaches and stakeholders can access the results online, anytime in the cloud using INSCYD.

One session. A profile for every athlete.

Validated against the gold standard.

INSCYD is built on peer reviewed physiology, not statistical guesswork. Independent labs and universities have compared its results against conventional gold standard methods such as constant load MLSS tests, ramp tests and metabolic carts. The result: INSCYD results are indistinguishable from conventional but time consuming lab tests.

1

Collect the data

Use the protocol and the equipment you already have: a lactate meter, a power meter, a GPS watch, a treadmill, an ergometer, a metabolic cart, or a stopwatch.

Any sport, any protocol
2

Upload it to INSCYD

Drop in the file or type in the values. INSCYD normalizes the data for time, distance and speed or power, so this test stays comparable to every test before it.
