5 - 9 MARCH | Tempe, Arizona
Coach education – an exclusive clinic on triathlon performance
Learn the training methodology of USA Triathlon’s Project Podium in their preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Get hands-on experience in coaching, physiological testing, nutrition, and training science while earning 12 CEU points. This event is brought to you by USA Triathlon’s Project Podium and INSCYD.
Our Official Partner

In 2023 USA Triathlon Project Podium changed their training approach. Head coach Parker Spencer wanted to choose a data-driven approach. He wanted to base training decisions on the actual physiology of an athlete instead of more conventional training methodologies.
In 2024 Project Podium won more podium spots in international races than they did in all previous years combined.
Now you can get the same benefits and learn the same training methodology used by USA Triathlon’s most successful high-performance program. Join USA Triathlon and INSCYD for a 5-day exclusive clinic and learn how to apply the same methodology to your coaching while earning enough CEU points to extend your USAT coaching license. The clinic includes hands-on VO₂ and lactate (testing) in all three disciplines.

This exclusive clinic includes:

Workshops: Get hands-on experience testing USA Triathlon athletes, including VO2max and lactate testing across swimming, cycling, and running. Learn how to measure and analyze key performance metrics such as run and swim economy.
Masterclasses: Each day, dive deep into key topics like energy metabolism, athlete profiling, and nutrition strategies for triathlon. Gain expert knowledge to apply directly to your coaching.
Mentorship: Work closely with our experts to develop personalized training plans using real athlete data. This is your chance to refine your skills and confidently apply the knowledge gained in workshops and masterclasses.
By the numbers
- 10 sessions, including; energy metabolism, fat combustion, aerobic & anaerobic capacity, lactate as a fuel
- 7 sessions on adaptation to training: phenotype-based, reasoning behind low-intensity high volume vs. high-intensity interval training, etc.
- 5 sessions on metabolic testing (VO2, lactate sampling, running economy, VLamax, VO2max, and thresholds, using the most trusted mobile analyzer – COSMED K5.)
- 1 session on interpretation and application of the results of metabolic testing (training zones, how to identify performance limiting factors, nutrition to maximize training adaptation)
- 2 sessions on mentorship in coaching (coaching philosophy, sports psychology)

The highlights
- Hands-on learning with USAT elite athletes. This means testing athletes, applying test data to training, and understanding the unique needs of each athlete. A true insiders look at world-class training and testing.
- Become an expert in metabolic testing. You will conduct lactate and VO2 testing: on the pool deck, at the running track, and on the road
- Learn how to interpret and apply metabolic data to inform training programs with the highest efficacy
- Answer the most important question in training! How the mechanisms and physiological reasoning enables you to understand if an athlete will gain more by low intensity – high volume training or by intense interval sessions
